In this charming colonial we placed special emphasis on the homes key architectural features. We highlighted an arched/domed ceiling using a decorative finish of metallic leafing, which opens into what was originally an artists studio, to now a great room and host of many family gatherings. A smaller living room was converted into a cozy study incorporating custom builtin-ins and sofa with walls decked in a herringbone wall covering all in handsome hues of blues and browns.
The Westmere House is a farm House located on picturesque Bell Island. The design goal was to open up the floor plan throughout the home, introduce significantly more natural light and to emphasize the views of the estuary and the Long Island Sound. The homes unique design features include beams repurposed from a 1700’s tobacco barn and a custom limestone mantel built in Egypt.
Dunn Designs renovated and created an addition to this 104 year old shingle style home designed by Delano and Aldrich. The client, a skilled and avid cook, wanted a kitchen space to defy categorization and not feel dated. Using state of the art appliances and an array of natural materials, Dunn Designs created a rustic industrial space with a vintage farmhouse feel. Every detail is this space fully imaged from the antique hand hewn-beams, penny mudroom floor, and creatively selected fixtures.
Designed by architect Lewis Bowman, this 1929 Tudor’s great room two-story cathedral ceiling, limestone mantle, and antique chandelier led Dunn Designs to imbue the space with rich and masculine elements. Natural animal skins, plush velvets, and hand embroidered wool sateen window panels warm the space, which encourages both fireside relaxing and games of pool.
